This is a simplified version of dal makhani, but very good nonetheless. I have another recipe on my blog where you soak beans and lentils first, which takes longer to make, but take a look at that too if you want to. This is a dish that is very tasty and spicy. A perfect autumn dish.
Simple Dal Makhani
1 red onion, chopped
3 dl beluga lentils, drained
3 dl kidney beans, drained
2 tsp garam masala
1/4 ginger powder
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1 dl coconut milk
2 tbsp tomato paste
5 cherry tomatoes, chopped
salt
pepper
In an oiled pan fry the onion for a minute, add the spices and fry everything for another minute before adding lentils, beans, coconut milk, tomato paste, and tomatoes into the pan. Mix well and cook for 10 more minutes. Season to taste. Serve with rice.
Enkel Dal Makhani
1 röd lök, hackad
3 dl belugalinser, sköljda
3 dl kidneybönor, sköljda
2 tsk garam masala
1/4 tsk ingefära
1/4 tsk vitlökspulver
1 dl kokosmjölk
2 msk tomatpuré
5 körsbärstomater, hackade
salt
peppar
