Seitan is made from wheat gluten and gets a meat-like texture. I think seitan becomes tastier and gets a better consistency by adding beans. I used white beans, but other beans work just as well. I chose to flavor with garlic and curry. But let your imagination run wild and use what appeals to you. I served seitan with a cauliflower-carrot-zucchini rice.
Seitan-bönstek
1 burk bönor
3 dl vetegluten
1 tsk vitlökspulver
1 tsk curry
1/4-0,5 tsk salt
2 dl vatten
2 msk soja
2 msk olja
Mosa bönorna och blanda tillsammans med vetegluten, kryddor, vatten, soja och olja. Knåda i 3 minuter. Forma till en limpa och rulla i aluminiumfolie. Placera limpan i en ugnsform och grädda i 175 C grader i 1 timme. Låt svalna något innan du skär i den.
Seitan Bean Steak
1 can beans
3 dl wheat gluten (1 ¼ cup)
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp curry
1/4-0,5 tsp salt
2 dl water (3/4 cup + 1 tbsp)
2 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp oil
Mash the beans and mix together with wheat gluten, spices, water, soy sauce and oil. Knead for 3 minutes. Shape to a loaf and roll in aluminium foil. Put the loaf in a baking dish and bake at 175 C degrees for 1 h. Let cool slightly before cutting into slices.
