When we were in Finland at Christmas I wanted to try Lidl's oat bread which I heard so much good about. And, yes they are so incredibly good. There is a lot of chewing resistance in them and they have a crispy crust and a good taste of oats. Of course I bought some home with me and have had them in the freezer, but now they are all eaten. So I had to try a recipe I found at Valio. The breads were very good and got a good crispy surface. These are best eaten freshly baked.
Havrebröd
5 dl havredryck
5,5 dl havremjöl
4 dl havregryn
1,5 tsk torrjäst
1,5 tsk salt
Blanda havremjöl, havregryn, torrjäst och salt i en skål. Häll på ljummen havredryck och blanda. Degen kommer att vara lös. Täck skålen med en handduk och ställ i kylen över natten eller 8 h. Forma degen till ca 12 platta bröd. Använd havremjöl som hjälp, för att degen är kladdig. Låt bröden jäsa i 30 minuter. Grädda bröden i 200 C i ca 20-25 minuter.
Oat Bread
5 dl oat milk
5.5 dl oat flour
4 dl oats
1.5 tsp dry yeast
1.5 tsp salt
Mix oat flour, oats, dry yeast and salt in a bowl. Pour on the lukewarm oat milk and mix. The dough will be loose. Cover the bowl with a towel and place in the fridge overnight or 8 h. Shape the dough into about 12 flat breads. Use oat flour as help, because the dough is sticky. Allow the breads to rise for 30 minutes. Bake the breads in 200 C for about 20-25 minutes.
