I remember when we lived in Singapore and I was going to buy poppy seeds for baking muffins, but the seeds were not allowed there. In Singapore, poppy seeds are classified as a drug. But here in Amsterdam you can to get hold of them :) This time, I baked a cake with the seeds and lemon. A very moist and tasty cake.
Lemon Poppy Seed Cake

1 tsp lemon zest
1 1/4 dl granulated sugar
1 3/4 dl all purpose flour
0.5 tbsp poppy seeds
0.5 tsp baking powder

In a bowl stir together oil, egg, quark, lemon juice and lemon zest. Add the sugar, flour, poppy seeds and baking powder. Pour the batter into a small greased and floured bundt cake pan and baka at 175 C for about 25 minutes. Let cool. Make the glaze by stirring together the powdered sugar and lemon juice.
