When in Italy enjoy tiramisu and coffee :)

We have been on holiday in Venice and wow what a wonderful city. It was absolutely breathtaking with its architecture, canals and small streets. I was so pleasantly surprised and the city was not crowded with tourists. Sometimes you could be completely alone on a street / alley and Venice is known for its small streets. There are good street signs and it's easy to find the major sights. We were in some churches, but you were not allowed to take pictures. The churches were nicely decorated and one of the churches had a very beautiful painted ceiling. We visited Ca 'Pesaro, an international gallery of modern art and oriental art museum. Did you know that there are no cars in the center of Venice, so it's very easy to get around without having to worry about traffic and cyclists.

When you are in Italy, you have to eat pizza, right? We actually ate twice at Rossopomodoro, they serve very good pizzas. The pizza crust is delicious after the dough is fermented for at least 24 hours and the restaurants Melanzane ala Parmigina was also very good and tasty. As a vegetarian, it was easy to find food and even vegans can find food in Venice. At a cafe, they had even vegan croissants. I had been looking forward to the coffee in Italy, but I was quite disappointed. It did not taste good and was often quite strong and caffe latte tasted mostly just milk. Can you imagine that we had the best tasting coffee during our stay in Venice at Marco Polo airport :)

I highly recommend you to visit Venice, you will not be disappointed.

"It is always assumed that Venice is the ideal place for a honeymoon. This is a grave error. To live in Venice or even to visit it means that you fall in love with the city itself. There is nothing left over in your heart for anyone else". - Peggy Guggenheim
