I'm very fond of cheese, and when I was little, blue emmental was "my" cheese. Today, I find that blue emmental cheese is a bit too strong to just have on a slice of bread, but otherwise it goes well in dishes. Nowadays I am more fond of creamy and soft cheeses. Baked cheese is ideal when you want to serve something festive. Cheese crackers and fresh fruit goes well with the baked cheese. Here is a recipe for a delicious fig compote, which you can use instead of the fig jam.
Cut the cheese in half and spread with jam and sprinkle with dried fruit. Then put on the other cheese half and spread with jam and decorate with dried fruit and almonds. Bake in 200 degree oven about 15 minutes. Serve with crackers.
